Public works schemes and their Part 1 claim windows

A claim under Part 1 of the Land Compensation Act 1973 runs from one year after the works opened to public use, and normally for six years after that. Find the scheme near your home below to see those dates, the physical factors it produces and whether you can still claim.

Roads, bypasses and junctions

Tunnels and river crossings

Railways, trams and metro

Airports and runways

Other public works

Opening dates are indicative and always confirmed with the acquiring authority before a notice of claim is served. A closed window is not always the end of it — later stages and alterations to a scheme open fresh windows of their own.
